Our client is a major aerospace manufacturer, mainly focusing on cooperation with leading aerospace manufacturers in international aerostructures projects - Sikorsky, Bomradier, Alenia Aeronautica, Embraer, Saab, EADS, etc.

The Job

The R&D manager will lead the team of engineers with the aim to achieve excelence in design and development projects in the field of aerostructures business. The role of the manager is to help the team to improve and extend its knowledge, skills and know-how needed to provide professional service for OEMs on the basis of risk-sharing projects. The team should in short term be respected by customers for its expertize, realiability and pro-activ approach in solving issues.

The R&D manager is expected to participate in negotiation of new contracts, to support business development staff  when preparing quoations within his sphere of activity. He/she will be fully responsible for covering contractual terms and conditions of design and development phase of a project. Subsequently, he/she is expected to run projects on time, within budget, with high standards of work delivered to a customer.

Responsibilities:

-          Management and leadership of the design & development team

-          Responsibility for managing of design & development projects

-          Control the team’s performance based on projects’ budget and projects’ KPIs

-          Control projects’ schedule status

-          Reporting the projects’ status to COO and Program Manager on regularly basis

-          Managing projects in an international environment

-          Managing projects in accordance with requirements and customer expectations

-          Participate in proposal and quotation preparation for new projects

-          Participate in contractual negotiations

-          Negotiate contractual terms changes during the run of a project, if needed

-          Managing subcontractors  and other external specialists

-          Build relationships with customers

-         Actively search for new opportunities on the market

Professional profile:

-          Strong knowledge of R&D processes, methods and tools, products and technologies

-          At least 10 years experience in aerostructure or a similar industry

-          Experience in working on international projects

-          Be oriented in latest development of R&D market, trends, issues

Soft skills requirements:

-          Strong managerial skills

-          Strong in leadership, motivation and mentoring of people

-          Strong focuse on engineering

-          Strong in communication within company, avoiding conflicts and managing critical situations

-          Strong verbal and written communication skills to interface with international customers, suppliers or subcontractors

-          Good negotiation skills

-          Inherent authority

-          Advanced level of English langue is a must (writen & spoken)
